         Tagore Dental College since its inception in 2007 have always been in the forefront in imparting quality education to full fill and work towards our mission and vision of the institution. The yearly intake is 100 for BDS course and 10 in MDS course in 4 disciplines. The students are provided with all the facilities and provision for their development and graduate with the knowledge, skills and ethical values.

RULES AND REGULATION OF THE STUDENTS

 

  1. Students should maintain strict discipline and follow all the rules and regulations of the college inside and outside the college premises.

  1. Should be dressed in a neat, modest and befitting manner. Jeans and tight fitting dresses are not permitted. Salwar Kameez and Chudidhars are recommended for girls. Coat must be worn in clinical and practical classes.
  2. Should attend classes/clinics/laboratory regularly. Students should be in time for lecture classes, labs, tests, exams and be regular in submitting records and assignments.
  3. Aminimum of 80% attendance is mandatory for each year of study, in order to appear for the university exam. Certified practical and clinical records should be submitted before the University Examinations.
  4. Students should attend all Terminal exams and model exam which asses the students for their internal assessment marks. Abstaining from tests will be liable for punishment except in case of valid grounds. Students with poor performance in class tests or model examinations will have to take a retest. Those students whose performance has not improved will not be permitted to take the University examinations.
  5. Students must maintain strict silence in the classes or laboratory.
  6. Use of cell phone in the campus is banned.
  7. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited inside or outside the college premises. Students involved in ragging will be expelled from the college immediately and handed over to the police. Any complaints regarding ragging should be made to the Principal immediately. Eve teasing is strictly against the laws.
  8. Students should behave well so as to uphold the reputation of the college. Should not misbehave with fellow students, staff or patients. Any reported or observed objectionable conduct of the student inside the college or outside the campus will invite disciplinary action.
  9. Should respect all staff members and obey the teachers and their word is final
  10. Absence without prior permission or leave letter is not allowed. Leave letter should be signed by parent/guardian. Medical leave can be availed on production of leave letter duly accompanied by medical certificate. Students who wish to leave the college during working hours should get permission from the college authorities.
  11. No students should posses/traffic or consume any narcotic drugs/ liquor in the college or attend college after consuming them. Smoking and Pan chewing is strictly prohibited in the college campus. Any student found violating this rule will be suspended immediately.
  12. Gambling is strictly prohibited.
  13. No one should convene or participate in any unauthorized meeting in the college campus or outside.
  14. No student shall participate, resort to or instigate any protest, demonstration or abet any form of strike. A strike or threat of strike should not be used as means to achieve any of the demands of the students. In the interest of the college any problem should be resolved by discussion with the authorities.
  15. Should not be instrumental in formation or join any association. Violation of this clause will lead to dismissal without any enquiry. Anyone found creating disciplinary problems and mobilizing the students for unlawful activities will be expelled from the college.
  16. Any student indulging in activities related directly or indirectly to caste, creed and religion will be expelled from the college.
  17. Damaging college property in any manner is prohibited and strict disciplinary action will be taken on those found guilty and the cost of damage will be recovered besides suspension.
  18. They should keep their surroundings clean and tidy.
  19. The students should switch off the lights and fans before leaving their rooms and observe strict economy measures in energy consumption.
  20. The college is not responsible for the loss of personal belongings. The student is responsible for the safe keeping of their belongings.
  21. Any complaints regarding amenities, discipline or any other inconveniences should be brought to the notice of the Principal immediately.
  22. Any illness during the college hours should be brought to the notice of the college authorities immediately.
  23. Student should be in possession of their identity cards on all occasions. The identity cards are valid for the entire course of study. College Identity card should not be misused for nefarious activities.
  24. Any change in address or contact number should be informed to the college office immediately.
  25. All students should pay their fees within 2 months of the start of their academic year. The hostel fees and transport fees should be paid in the beginning of the academic year.
  26. Students should adhere to the rules and regulations of the college which may be amended from time to time. Ignorance of rules and regulations of the college will not be treated as an excuse.
  27. The lecturers are empowered to mark a student absent for a particular class on account of his/her misbehavior during class hours.
  28. The Principal reserves the right to suspend or even expel a student in the interest of the college if the situation warrants.
  29. The Principal does have the authority to dispose of all matters related to discipline in the manner he/she deems fit in order to maintain proper academic atmosphere on the campus.

INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT

The students’ council is formed by the students themselves. They plan and organize inter collegiate cultural and sports meet. The council communicates the grievances of the students to the Principal and provides assistance to resolve the students’ issue.

STUDENT MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

 

The students are divided into groups and about 9-10 students are assigned to a staff member, who will be the Group Head. A senior Professor will be a team leader supervising each year under whose guidance the Group Head will function.The Group Head is responsible to assist the students in academic and co-curricular activities and rendering all help required. They are in charge of attendance, academic performance and progress of the assigned students and reporting to the parents and Principal. The team will meet once a month to discuss the progress of the assigned students and report to the Principal once in two months.The mentors meet their mentees as and when necessary or at leasttwice a month and discuss their progress and also counsel them.

SCHOLARSHIPS & INCENTIVES

The government provides scholarships for the backward class, scheduled tribe and scheduled caste students and tuition fees for the first graduate students, scheduled tribe and scheduled caste students are paid by the government. The fees are promptly given to the students. Meritorious students and deserving students are given a fee reduction.

Academic awards are given to students who top the class and individual subjects. The best outgoing student and students who get a gold medal in the University examinations get a gold medal from the management. Awards and prize money are given for student paper publication and to students who apply for patent. Publication cost and patent cost is borne by the college. The names of merit students are published in the magazine, newsletter and also put up in the Outgoing students Board. Students who topped the subjects are given extra library books for reference. Fee reduction is given to the deserving candidates on the advise of the HODs, mentors and Principal. 

 

STUDENTS COUNCIL

A Student Council is a representative structure through which students in the institution can become involved in the affairs of the college, working in partnership with college management and staff and parents for the benefit of the institution and its students.Student’s council members are elected by the students themselves with representatives from all batches of students and headed by the senior most batches of students. Members of the Student council is elected by the students or nominated by the students. The council is elected at the beginning of every academic year. The Interns play a major role and leads the council. All the posts are assisted by the junior students. All the batch representatives are present in the council apart from the talented students in the field. They have a term of one year.

STUDENT COUNCIL ACTIVITIES:

  1. Planning for Intra and Inter College cultural and sports events.
  2. Participation with co- ordination of students in Conference and conventions at state and national levels.
  3. Conducting social programs, volunteering public programs and health check ups
  4. Student representative will voice the opinions of the student population pertaining to the conduct and organizing of such events.
  5. Funding is provided for the programs conducted through college.
  6. Look after discipline of college
  7. Represent students grievances to the management
  8. Organising programs for the benefit and entertainment of students.
  9. Help college in prevention of ragging.
  10. Work in all committees of college and provide their feedback, grievances and their point of view.

ROTAG  ( ROTARACT CLUB OF TAGORE DENTAL COLLEGE ) Click

         Our college have recently started the Rotract club under the Rotary club of Madras North west district. The college club is called as TOTAG. There was a lectures series on Rotary and  Rotract club by the Rotary club and the students were also sent for training and students members of the club were selected. The President is Mr B Bharath, Secretary is Amarnath Raman, Vice President is Mr T Tanish and Joint Secretary is Ms Jananee Parkavee and Staff Coordinator is Dr Nivedha Subbaraman.  The past president of Madras North west Dr Saikrishna was the initiator for starting this club. The instillation ceremony was attended by Rtn Dev Damodharan, District Governor Rtn G Chandramohan and Rtn Nagendra Babu.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION 

Tagore Alumni Club (TAC) is in its very incipient stage. As only 6 batches have passed and they are yet to complete their studies and settle in life, the college organises meetings for them and maintain a touch with the students. The alumni club meets once a year. The alumni students are invited for all academic and social programs of the college, to improve their skills and knowledge and to make them feel part of Tagore fraternity.

 

MISSION

The mission of Alumni Relations is to inform, engage and inspire alumni to stay connected to their alma mater, support its vision and contribute to its success. The alumni meets yearly twice in the months of June & December coinciding with time of completion of CRRI.

 

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

·        Conducting alumni meets once in a year

·        The association collects the feedback from the alumni which meets with the demands and standards

·        To nurture relationships with current and future alumni.

·        To coordinate and promote programs that instil good will, and provide opportunities for professional growth and social               interaction

·        To promote and enhance effective communications between the college and its alumni 

·        To ensure the quality of our future alumni by continuing to assist the college in identifying and recruiting future students

·        To encourage academic, social, cultural, sports activities and also aid in fund raising.

 

ACT MEMBERS- ALUMNI CLUB OF TAGORE

The ACT has a Advisory committee appointed and Association committee which is elected. The association committee consist of a president AND A President elect whose term is 2 years, 2 vice-presidents with one year term, a secretary and treasurer with a term of 4 years and 2 executive committee members elected from each passed out batch (at present a total of 8 executive committee members).
